Fieldwork — Glasgow · Brand & web design studio

Design for independent food, drink and hospitality businesses.

We are a three-person studio. Small on purpose. We take on a handful of projects a year and give each one everything: the strategy, the identity, the website and the packaging, all under one roof.

Bramble & Rye

Sourdough bakery · Edinburgh · 2025

The brief — A market stall with a cult following needed to become a bakery with a front door. The founders worried a rebrand would lose the handmade character their regulars loved.

What we did

  • A hand-drawn wordmark and warm paper-and-ink palette
  • Bags, boxes, labels and shopfront signage
  • A one-page site with the daily bake list

Results

  • Weekday sales up 40% in the first quarter after opening
  • Two deli stockists signed within a month of the launch
  • Regulars queued round the block on opening day
02

The Ferry Inn

Canalside pub · Glasgow · 2024

The brief — A much-loved but tired canalside pub wanted to draw a younger crowd without alienating the regulars who had been coming for decades.

What we did

  • A new identity balancing heritage with dry humour
  • A fast website with menus, events and online bookings
  • Direction for a new set of interior photographs

Results

  • Online bookings up 130% in six months
  • Event sign-ups up 60% on the old noticeboard system
  • Average spend up 18% on nights with a set menu
03

Culross Coffee

Specialty roastery · Fife · 2024

The brief — Twelve blends, one look. The roastery’s bags blurred together on the shelf, and online customers could not tell the range apart.

What we did

  • A colour-coded packaging system with room to grow
  • An e-commerce site with a simple subscription checkout
  • Tasting notes rewritten in the roastery’s own voice

Results

  • Subscription sales up 35% within three months
  • Wholesale enquiries doubled the year after the launch
  • The range now reads at a glance, in store and online

Elsie’s

Natural wine bar · Glasgow · 2025

The brief — Naming and identity for a twelve-seat wine bar opening on a shoestring in Finnieston, six weeks before the doors opened.

What we did

  • Naming, identity and a distinctive chalk-and-cobalt look
  • Hand-set menus and printed ephemera
  • A simple site that takes reservations

Results

  • Fully booked for the first six weeks after opening
  • Featured in The List’s bars of the year roundup
  • The identity stretched from coasters to the awning
05

Hebridean Creamery

Island dairy · Isle of Mull · 2023

The brief — An artisan creamery repositioning from farmers’ markets to national retail, where its cheeses sat next to far bigger brands.

What we did

  • Packaging for a growing range of wrapped cheeses
  • Brand guidelines the two-person team can actually use
  • A wholesale site with trade information and stockists

Results

  • Eighteen new stockists in the first six months
  • A listing secured with a national deli chain
  • Retail sales up 55% year on year
06

Tattie & Co

Street food caterer · Scotland-wide · 2023

The brief — A much-booked street food caterer was losing wedding and festival enquiries in a tangle of direct messages and spreadsheets.

What we did

  • A confident identity built for vans, marquees and aprons
  • A website with a proper enquiry flow and price guide
  • Templates the team fills in without a designer

Results

  • Private bookings doubled year on year
  • Enquiries answered in a day rather than a week
  • Festival season fully booked by March

Services

Brand identity

Naming, logotypes, colour, typography and tone of voice, delivered as guidelines your team can actually use. We start with your kitchen, your counter and your customers, not a mood board.

  • Strategy workshops
  • Identity systems
  • Guidelines and roll-out

Websites

Fast, accessible sites designed and built in-house. No templates, no page builders. Menus, bookings and shops that are easy for you to update and easy for guests to use.

  • Design and build
  • Content management
  • Menus, bookings and shops

Packaging

Shelf-ready packaging that survives the print run, from the first dieline to the press check. We know how a shelf works, and how a bag behaves when it is full of flour.

  • Range architecture
  • Dielines and print management
  • Photography direction

About the team

Three of us, one room in Finnieston, and a shared belief that small food and drink businesses deserve the same standard of design as the big brands. You will work directly with the people who do the work.

Mhairi Campbell

Founder · Brand and strategy

Fifteen years in identity design, the last eight spent around food and drink. Writes the strategy, argues about type, sources the good coffee for studio days.

Jon Ellis

Websites · Design and build

Designs and builds every site in-house, having escaped a large digital agency in Manchester. Obsessed with load speed, legible menus on phones, and honest booking flows.

Priya Nair

Packaging · Art direction

Came to design from food styling, so she knows how a shelf works and how a label behaves in a chiller cabinet. Directs our photography and keeps the print drawers honest.
